Minimum front brake pad thickness? Dealer says 2mm, seach brings up nothing

Just replaced mine, I think had like 4-5mm left, and they started to crumble a bit on the sides (could be from the HPDE I attended earlier this year...).
If its under warrantee, I would strongly urge to have them replace teh pads, as they might warp your rotors, than again, its under warrantee, so have them confirm this on the work order, e.g. "we're not replacing brake pads till 2 mm or less...".
Oh, I replaced only the fronts, and yes, its a TIP too, which uses its brakes a bit more than a 6 sp...

in VA i believe its 2mm, but I'm not sure; I had a very similar experience as yours at my audi dealer; i can feel that they need to be repalced, but I'll just go ahead and wait until I can get it for free
