I don't like the current mirrors on the car. Do the stock mirrors have the auto dimming feature (linked to the rear view mirror?) I know they are heated with the cold weather package. I saw LLtek sells some nice mirrors that retain the factory heating, but is the auto dimming done through the up down controls or is there something special in the factory mirrors?
Thanks,

do your outside mirrors appear "double vision" sometimes? My driver side mirror does this. Is it normal. Noticable at night only with headlights.???????

Use it to get your door panel off and look for the wires that lead into the mirrors. Obviously, if you can compare it to an A4, then you'd probably have a third set of wires (auto-dimming). Can't say whether just clipping and lock nutting (electrical tape is good too) them would do the trick since there may be circuitry inside the mirror or previous to the wires going to the mirrors but hey, it's a start. You'll probably need a voltmeter to see whether they're continually powered or not. If not powered, then I'd say, you're pretty safe just cutting them and making sure you lock nut them SEPARATELY. Please do this at your own risk.
I've never messed with the mirrors but have taken off the door panel cause the dealer couldn't find a rattle near the speaker in my A4. Turns out the damn rattle came from a quarter bouncing around- one can find change in all the strange places. How it got there, I don't know.
Otherwise, maybe there's a separate fuse for auto-dimming. That's probably the easiest of all but you'd lose the feature in your rearview mirrors as well.
