Default Missing Nav CD?

I took delivery of my S4 last week Friday, and the dealer didn't have the Nav CD for me. He mentioned that the CD they did have was "scratched" and would not work in the Nav. My question is, aren't cars that are spec'ed with the nav system suppose to come with the CD for that region? I do NOT trust this dealership at all, because they pulled some Mickey mouse sh*t with me when I was negotiating the price on the car. Im just waiting for the AoA people to call me for the customer survey....

Default They are screwing with you, IMHO

The NAV cd does not ship with the car, they must FAX an order in for it when it's sold, as it contains time-sensitive information. The CD arrives by next-day air.

You paid for it, Audi upped the NAV option cost by $180 (back in September) just to cover the first CD, so you did not have to buy it seperately from the car.

Default Nope, you get your own nav CD fedexed to you directly from the supplier

We have a big bulleten on our sales office wall from Audi that states clearly that the demo nav cd should not be given out. The parts department will be billed internally, and the cd sent to you in a few days.

The poor shmuck was probobly trying to get even for you beating him up on the deal, or really didn't know. We have three qualified Audi salespeople, and 9 people who should not ( yet do ) sell them.

Did you buy your car from an ABS ( Audi Brand Specialist )? If not, sorry for you. Just like buying a house ( probobly your only larger purchase ), you should research who is selling you this item, not just the item itself.

They are an Audi brand specialist I think, becuase they are listed in the dealer directory on the Web site and the Audi dealer literature.
The dealer tells me that they ordered the CD and
it should be here mid week. Who should I believe? Was I wronged? Help!!

Default Not sure Audi Brand Specialist means much

I bought my car from an Audi Brand Specialist who:

1. Told me the grey wood trim on my car was carbon-fiber
2. Didn't know what the black plastic things on the rear deck are (I think they are GPS antennas?)
3. When I asked him to check the mileage on the car I wanted (on lot), to make sure it didn't have excessive test drive mileage, he said, "Don't worry, the factory redlines and stress tests the engines before they are installed in the car. They are abused much worse than they would be in a few test drives" (When I pressed, he checked, and fortunately my car had only 29 miles at delivery)
4. Didn't know how to set the clock (even though he personally drives an A4)

On the other hand, my Audi purchase experience was better than any other car I've bought because:

1. The salesman had the authority to negotiate without the need to run back and forth to a sales manager.
2. Offered me a second test drive (didn't even have to ask), and on 2nd drive let me take the car out by myself.
3. After the sale, he discounted the price of my second Nav CD.

All in all, I was very pleased with the salesman and the sales experience - but mostly because he didn't play the typical car dealer tricks, not because of superior product knowledge.

If we're thinking about the same things, the (three) black plastic things on the rear deck are securing points for the new-spec child seats (required by new federal regulations). That's what my Audi Brand Specialist told me, anyhow.

Default Re: Missing Nav CD?

I bought my car in a different state and therefore required a different cd. After much labor and turmoil, this is what I discovered. They fax in the order to a distibuter that represents Bosch (the manufacturer of the system). Once, and if, they receive the order by 3:00est, you will receive it the next day. Mine did not come for weeks and AoA could not help at all. So I called Bosch and got in contact with the Product Sales Manager who knew everything about the system. He contacted the supplier and they get it to me the next day. Call 713-856-4412 and ask Ida if she has received an order for your cd. Good Luck

They look kind of flimsy for seat restraints, but you might be right. I should RTFM.
