Moaning noise

Re: Moaning noise
I think I've got the same sound coming from my stock '01.
It's a metallic resonating sound that occurs when starting off slowly. A quick tap of the brake seems to clear it so I'm thinking along the lines of a dragging pad or caliper that's not always releasing fully. I've had it looked at twice so far. It's intermittent though. First time I got it back they said they made some minor brake adjustments, but the sound was still there when I went to pull away. A test drive with the tech to demonstrate the sound, a couple more days, a few more tweaks (beveling the pads?) and it seemed to be gone, but now a week later it's back. Possible correlation item -- it's raining today, though I've driven it in the rain before w/out hearing the sound. Do you notice any change better/worse with wet weather?
Only other references I've seen from searching here and a few other places is a two year old newsgroup posting (see link).
The initial description matches my symptoms exactly. Unfortunately, there was no follow-up pointing to a specific cause or resolution.
BTW, hello to all from an S4 noob. Wish I'd found this place before I got mine.<ul><li><a href="http://groups.google.com/groups?q=S4+audi+moan+brake&hl=en&lr=lang_ en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=e6922167.0111161255.7a5a73e6%40posting. google.com&rnum=1">Link to alt.autos.audi article from Nov 2001</a></li></ul>

Exactly the same problem here; no solution but....
I am beginning to think that the brakes are the cuprit. Here is what I see:
* Loud moan from front of car
* Only occurs from stop
* Dissappears above 15 MPH
* When disappearing moaning will get quiter, becomine intermittent, then disappears
* Does not regularly occur
* Tapping break does seem to remedy issue
