You using this in your car? If so, how long have you been running with?

Default I have used it for 2 years in my 1.8T and since I first changed the oil in my S4....

It comes in one gallon containers (approx $25) so I mix 4 quarts 5W40 Delvac 1 with 2.9 quarts Mobil 1 0W40.

I design heavy duty diesel engines for a living and have access to all sorts of lubrication data. This is good oil. I have had it recommended to me by numerous other engineers.

I don't believe that the lubrication properties are that much better than standard Mobil 1...but the stronger detergents keep everything nice and clean. It is also the perfect viscosity IMHO for our car.

Default What do you know about Amsoil?

I've been reading some interesting stuff about Amsoil that puts it ?ahead? of Mobil 1? I figured since you might have access to this information, and the fact that you choose Mobil 1 still, you might be able to explain why NOT amsoil? TIA!

Default Do you have access to Mobil 1 viscosity vs. temperature data?

Would love to have some hard data to base the "don't go WOT until X temperature" rule of thumb on.

Default I'll see what I can find guys. About Amsoil...

What data I've seen has shown it's eqivelant or slightly better than Mobil 1. However, I don't think the extra price is worth it.

There should be plenty of hard data on the internet to make an informed decision.

From your data it appears that the lower the wear scar the better the protection which means that Amsoil appears to offering the best protection. I have been using Amsoil for the last 12 years and occasionally Mobil 1. In my opinion Mobil 1 is a pretty decent oil, however Amsoil seems to offer better protection and a higher viscosity index in comparison to other synthetic brands resulting in greater efficiency and does not break down easily.
