Mobil1 - OW-30, or 15W-50 Hot Houston Climate?

They also state that the oil must be designated with API Service SJ...
and ACEA A2 or ACEA A3. Unfortunately any of the Mobil 1 grades of oil with their SuperSyn designation do not meet that requirement. Some meet the ACEA A3 but none meet the API Service SJ.

Mobil 1 meets SJ
From the product data sheet:
Mobil 1 with SuperSynTM fully synthetic, detergent-dispersant oils are designed for passenger car and light truck gasoline or diesel engines requiring API Service SL, SJ or CF. Mobil 1 with SuperSynTM 0W-30, 5W-30, and 10W-30 also meet ILSAC GF-3 (Starburst Certification Mark).

Not according to their website...
For their 0w-30 weight for example:
Exceeds API SL/CF and ILSAC GF-3, and is recommended by many U.S. automakers.
Exceeds ACEA A1/B1 and A5/B5.
Source here. Their product datasheet and their general info on their website are contradictory it seems.
From what I recall, the older formulation of Mobil1 met API SJ specs but none of their new formulation meets this specification.

Yes, but wouldn't you agree that the manual essentially leaves some room for speculation?
It states oil viscosity recommendations are based/dependent on 'normal' driving conditions and 'seasonal and climatic' conditions.
While any of these grades would probably work fine on the street under 'normal' driving conditions (whatever that means), the engine would probably need a little more protection on the track or if driven hard all the time, no??

0w30, 5w30, 10w30 are not ACEA A2. 15w50 and 0w40 are. Get the 0w40...
...JAM Distributing on Mykawa is a Mobil distributor that carries it, as does at least Advantage Audi (albeit at a ridiculous price).
