modified exhaust ticket

What does audiworld think...
I got pulled over this past weekend and got cited for a modified exhaust. I took a corner a little to aggressive and then punched it through 2nd then went back to normal cruising speed. I guess a cop saw/heard me from a parking lot so chased me down. Pulled me over down the street, i was going 30 (in a 35) just cruising along. Basically said he had no proof i was speeding and that he would have no case in court. So instead he wrote me up for modified exhasut. Then went and looked and saw I had no front plate and added that to the ticket. He seemed pissed.
I am grateful I didn't get a speeding ticket, but can't I fight this modified exhaust? I heard it gives you points on your record now.
I'm down in socal, happened in torrance. Anybody ever take their citation to one of the referee stations? Will I pass the dB test?
FYI 2000 s4. Neuspeed G2, AMS, evo-intake
Any advice?

Because chances are most of these cops then go home and get on their Harley and destory every persons ear drums within a mile radius. Its such a major double standard and pretty much profiling young people. Seems to happen mostly in SoCal though and I'm glad I don't live there for that very reason.

assuming that is actually passes. then i have a certification incase i ever get pulled over again. i'd rather not be hassled again
that and i really dont feel like actually going to court. i dont know how much work is involved with that.

all I got from his was "uhhhh muhhhhhh *head scratch* Ohhh we pull them over too. I wish they wouldn't put those loud exhausts on at the dealer" = caught with head up ***. Oddly enough I had no problems on a later stop with one of the local chp street racing "pop your hood please" task force officers.

If you got bagged for that I would have laughed my *** off.
19's and cleared corners one week, pulled over the next. Price you pay for pimpin', and driving like a jack *** ; )
How much was the ticket.
