more 235/45-17 s4 questions (long)...

I'm reposting in the S4 forum on advice from The Tire Rack:
I should have a 2000 S4 in a month. Want to get a second set of wheels, Avus style for summer & OEM for winter.
I understand that 235/45 will rub (inside) with the standard ET45 7.5x17 wheels.
Assuming the car's not lowered, will 235/45 fit comfortably on, a)an aftermarket avus replica which is ET35, not 45, and still 7.5x17 or, b) and aftermarket avus replica that is 8.0x17 and ET35.
I understand the latter option pushes things the most, though that'd be preferred as a best match rim for 235 section width.
Anyone with experience (I've seen your knowledgeable posts, Steve B!) with insight? The subject seems beat to death, but I can't find a good answer searching the forums.
One possibility is that both fitments are just too close for comfort, and the issue becomes the specific tire mounted and its own dimensional characteristics. For example, I understand the S03 PP to be wide for a given size...
Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to make sure my question's clear.
THANKS.
