More info about my previous post....Hard shift from my tiptronic
I posted earlier this afternoon after I had done a WOT run from 0 to 30 and then abruptly cut off the throttle. When I did this the trans. shifted very hard (a LOUD 'THUNK' occured...I don't know how else to describe it, but it felt like something was very wrong) After this occured, the transmission would shift until I shut the car off and started again. It seems to run fine now, but I VAG'ed it and got the following code from the trans module P1560. Indicates the engine over reved (exceeded 7400rpm) according to Bentley. Anyone ever get this code before...BTW, I was not shifting the car in tip mode...I was letting it run as a 'normal automatic transmission'.
Thanks

Hard shift from my tiptronic
I had same thing happen in my wife's (chipped) allroad (disturbing loud thunk, etc.) and I got the same error code. The dash gear display went negative (all red with 123... in black.) After restarting, no problem, but I fear the thing won't shift on time, so I've not tried to repeat it! (She'd never run the car that way, so I haven't worried about it.) I'd like to know what happened too...

I once had very similar results after dumping it into neutral by accident, once.
I thought I was in Tip mode, but wasn't so when I went to upshift, I actually pushed it into neutral. Same result. Same code. No problem since. Your TCU gets confused, and goes into limp mode, which is why it won't shift until you power off, and back on.

So... you still managed to over-rev the thing. It's not difficult...
...to do with just about any electronically controlled "automatic" transmission, if there's sufficient torque available, and an abrupt throttle input, or gear change.
As noted above, I wasn't in Tip mode either. I only thought I was. My TCU was protecting me from myself, as was yours.
Don't fret.
It's fine.
My car was chipped for about 25,000 miles before I went nuts and got a Level10 build, for Stage III.
