absolutely right from what I have seen. I think the upper end K04 cars with all the RS4 goodies hit about 460CHP oh the maha over and over, seems like they are doing their homework...
the maha is mighty hard to overthrow, it seems like it spits out good CHP number for a number of different production cars taht are stock.

wouldnt surprise me if it kept the same crank along with the same general block layout.
as far as the RS4 crank being different - i almost had my hands on one for under 100USD, but it slipped through my fingers. we may never know now![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Wouldnt really surprise me either way to learn that the RS4 either was or wasnt different than the S4 one. On one hand, theres a strong, proven crankshaft with no history of failure and abundant supply - on the other hand, is it really that hard to change up the material composition? im sure the CNC machine doesnt care about the exact properties of the chunck of billet you throw in it.

composition or processing. It's supposedily what, maybe 10% stiffer, so maybe its metallergy is different or maybe its been heat/stress relieved... don't know.
The 2.8l has been around as a gas engine for maybe 15yrs(was in the cabrio and the 100/200s I think as well) so betting it was first and the diesel adapted afterward. No mention of a v6 diesel until the late 90s in product form that I can see/find.
