In my '02 I have a hose that's not in an '01 or an RS4. Can someone tell me what it is/does? Intake

Default In my '02 I have a hose that's not in an '01 or an RS4. Can someone tell me what it is/does? Intake

Between the MAF and the Y-Pipe there is an accordian tube. When I installed my Stg3 kit, I found that my '02 tube had a ~5/8" hole in the bottom which had a hose connecting to it. The RS4 accordian tube that I was putting in did not have this hole. I was told to cap off this hose. I have done that and have had no issues, but I'd like to know where this hose goes and what its purpose is. I'm considering making a connection with the RS4 tube so it functions as it should. The hose appears to have vacuum, so if it's trying to get clean filterd air, I'd like to oblige and give it what it wants.

I suspect that the ETKA will not have this hose as this is a change in '01.5 (or '02) and ETKA was out in '00??? Or is there a newer ETKA with all of the '01.5 changes?

If anyone knows what this hose is or purpose, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Hard to tell, but this could be the hose. It has a right angle connector at the end of the hose just as it goes into the accordian.

Without the circle, for clarity:

Default That hose is also present on the 2001.5

Makes it a little more difficult to check for boost leaks using AWE's pressure tester.

Default It's on M and T box cars, I believe that it's part of the system that replaced the F-hose, but I'm

not exactly sure what it does either. I'd be interested to hear.

Default How did you disconnect the hose, I tried but didn't want to break anything.

I have a 2002 and was going to do a pressure test.

Default That's about as far as I got too.

Was going to do a pressure test but didn't have a lot of time. Since the new hose wasn't mentioned in the directions, I put everything back together and decided to wait until I could spend more time on it.

Default just disconnect the accordian tube from the ypipe

put your finger in the accordian tube from the ypipe side and push down on the end of that hose while pulling up on the accordian tube...comes right no problem. It kind of pops into the accordian tube via the rubber edge that it has on it.

Default Problem is, the self-study guide is based on the '00 - '01 S4.

It doesn't provide information on the '01.5+ models.
