My camcorder mount...anyone got ideas on how to reduce vibration?

or at least screw some thin steel plates on each side of the 2x2 bar. (the sides perpendicular to the road.) this will stiffen the bar.
also either clamp the bar to the headrest supports or put rubber bushing on each side of the head rest posts so the head rest is now actively holding the bar against gravity.
remember, any slop at the head rest joint will be amplified by the length of the bar, so another option is to try to shorten the bar as much as possible.
maybe some of these suggestions will help.

Get yourself a strap made out of nylon webbing. I see people with those wrapped around their bulging luggage all the time.
Feed it throught the crack whick separates the seat bottom from the seat back, bring it up over the wooden mount piece, and back down the other side. Now fasten the strap together and pull tight. That should pull your mount very tightly down onto the top of the seatback, greatly reducing vibration.
Hmmm... I don't know where you obtain such a strap.

I tried improving my camera mount by insulating the headrest support rods. To do this I bored out the holes in the 2x2 to the full 3/4" diameter, and cut up a little spare garden hose to use as rubber insulation. I also strapped the 2x2 down with a tie-down strap wrapped around the seatback and the 2x2. The results were maybe a 20% improvement, but it still wasn't satisfactory for aggressive driving IMO. It looked OK at legal speeds, on good pavement, and when keeping the G-forces down, but it still became unacceptable nearing track conditions. Ultimately, my solution that I did find acceptable was to strap down a tripod in the backseat. So much for the 2x2 idea and my time wasted there...
