known as the traffic police. I just got home from getting my car out of the impound lot. They towed it for parking in an illegal spot in the street. At first I thought the car had been stolen, and almost had a coronary, as this would've been the second S4 I've had stolen in less than a year (I'm the guy who got his S4 stolen out of Battery Park garage last year). I didn't even know that I wasn't supposed to park in that spot, because I didn't see the sign and it was covered in spraypaint anyway and illegible. It was when the cops got there that I found out the car had been impounded.

After waiting on line for more than an hour to pay the $150 towing fee to pick up the car (it's amazing how many cars the city tows in the wee hours of a Saturday), I drove the friend I was hanging with back to Jersey City and came home. Every thing felt normal, but the owner's manual explicitly states never to tow the car except on a flatbed, as this WILL damage the tranny and engine. Anyone have experience with having their car improperly towed? Is my quattro system fubared, and just not exhibiting any symptoms yet?

God I f'ing hate living in this city sometimes.

I had the same problem but luckily nothing happened to the car.

Maybe call a dealer (other than the one that you use, and dont tell them who you are) and see what they say...

If no strange noises, you should be ok (I did leave NYC for that and other reasons, not worth it)
