Last night while exiting from the interstate the thing goes into limp mode...ABS,ESP,check engine lights all go on and it sputters with little power. This lasted for about 30 secs when the check engine light goes off but the ABS & ESP lights remained on despite stopping the thing, turning off the ignition and restarting x 2.

So I go to the dealer who happened to be nearby, tell them the story. The service manager goes out, starts it up and....no error lights at all! He drove it around for a few minutes, still no lights. He tells me it may have been a pothole or rough pavement (I could not recall any such inciting incident).

So, why did it to this? My seatback is stuck as well & am I already have an appointment on Thurs for them to look at it. I'm going to have them run a diagnostic on it at that time regardless. Any suggestions to point them in the right direction?

And no DTCs were stored. Shutting the car off and turning it back on cleared the lights. Didn't have a check engine light or loss of power though.

Did the dealership VAG the car to see if any DTCs were stored?

Of course I arrived at 5:45 pm when they were wrapping up. That dealer is actually in Indianapolis & I live an hour south in Bloomington. My appointment is in Bloomington where I live and work.

oil pressure, started it up again and it was fine. Go figure.

So what does it mean if i didn't hit a pothole? Why did the lights remain on after 2 starts?
