Older revisions of chips do indeed show themselves if you look at the correct VAG tool menu item; newer chips operate more stealthily.
<b>However</b>, one should always remove one's chip before taking your car in for service unless your dealer is chip friendly. Not because of potential warranty problems per se, but rather if they find some DTCs in the computer, they may decide to swap your ECU, meaning your chip would go away...
