Default Now that I think about it, if you think it's a lowball offer, ask to appeal it within the insurance

company. If that doesn't work, threaten to have the state insurance regulatory agency involved. If that doesn't work, threaten to take the insurance company to court.

Default Insurance companies do not want to pay!!!!

I went through this a number of years back with a VERY clean toyota MR-2 that I had built to SCCA Street stock rules. After the car got totalled the insurance company wanted to give me X # of $$ and I said no way, look, I have receipts for X # of $$ plus the car. After going back and forth for a couple weeks I was gettig fed up and told the company that I since they thought my car was worth X I wanted them to find a MR-2 in compairable condition and just buy it for me. They did not want to do that...well after a lot of going back and forth they ended up giving me what my car was worth as well as letting me keep the crashed one so I could part out all the new hot rod parts ;-). When it was all over I actually made out pretty well. It just goes to show that the squeeky wheel gets the oil. It also may have helped that as I was getting mad at how this was being handled I may have mentioned that my neck still hurt from the crash LOL....

Good Luck.

Cheers,
Jim

Default KBB is a joke, take a look at the NADA value of your car. www.nadaguides.com

This is the insurance industry "bible" for car values

Default 2nd...this just happened to my wife (last tuesday) and the insurance company...

paid us a fair price based on the condition of the vehicle prior to the accident and what compriable cars in the area were selling for. If you are using KBB start with the private party retail based in a vehicle in good condition for a car that old. Also check local listings and try to find a couple of compairable vehicles. We were able to bring the pay-out ups a bit due to the condition of the vehicle compared to others on the market in our area.
