Default Integrity of scalloped hats

DaveyKid,

The change away from scalloped hats was purely a production efficiency change. The scallops were done away with to reduce the machine time involved in making a hat, not because there was any problem with the design.

Also, I should back up and say, nobody will ever measure a difference in performance in any respect between current and scalloped hats.

The corrosion concern is completely separate from the shape of the hats. It's caused by dissimilar materials in an electrolytic environment. High school chemistry. The only way to counter it is by providing something that corrodes more readily than the aluminum, which we do with the zinc plating, or by using stainless steel, which no customers would be willing to pay for.

Default Funny you mention that about corrosion. You ought to see the e-mail threads in the RS6 forum on the

issues surrounding the failing DRC's. Some tend to believe Audi may not have done their homework on the aluminum seals used. Seems like the majority of the failures are happening in the rustbelt zones. Unfortunately, that's NOT a cheap fix.

Default WHAT?! I was not "Taken Care Of" in any way shape or form

I never got my emails returned about getting reimbursed for those hat's not to mention my other inquiries into getting a discount on a bigger kit. I was very patient and you guys had your chance but I've taken my business elsewhere (Alcon).

All it would have taken was a decent discount on a 355mm kit and I would have been happy. 10% is not a discount to me.

Default UPDATE!

Glad I someone mentioned this post to me as alot of stoptechs repsonses are new since the original post. Clever

Not going into detail but due to stoptechs lack of customer concern or support regarding this particular situation I have since gone with Alcon.

Stoptech was always very good with technical assistance and has some very good people working for them but in my particular case they dropped the ball and lost my business plain and simple. For those curious please feel free to see read though the posts below or see the link to the post of my new alcon setup.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/2493719.phtml</a
