Default They are sending some of them over again this year in June. V10 tdi 553trq about

24mpg on the highway. Not bad for an SUV and 500hp and tons of torque. I just drove it a few days ago along with cars not at dealerhships yet.

Default I'm told next round of VW TDIs will pass emissions laws (2008 my)...

They still have particulate issues along with NOx...even though their CO2 and mpg are good. FYI - all diesel engines can use bio with simple modifications. I have friends that run old 1980 Mercedes 300D with bio. What makes diesels attractive nowadays is that the current breed of cars also happen to get great mpg...and also that there's no use of foreign oil. Cost is still the same, though.

Default The modern TDI's (especially when equipped with the particulate filter) are fine for emissions...

the current problem is in the high sulfur/low quality US diesel.

Default haha BIG 2-nd on the diesel ..

this is what i hear in us about diesels "oh .. it smells bad .. it's too loud .. it doesn't have power .." while these people have no clue !
a next car i'd love to buy next (since there is no 3.0 TDI = A BEAST imho ..) is Mercedes TD.

this is my father's little TDI :

Default You sir are correct that it could be 2008, but it could be that they never show up as well. Everyone

wants a TDI Passat, but we aren't getting them in.

Yeah, with the new particulate filters all *should* be good. Hope to see more TDIs soon.

Default Yeah, I looked at an Mk4 Golf TDI when I was visiting family in Chicago last Christmas...

and they had only one on the lot. They said they would not be getting any more in until the laws changed and VW came out with the next model of TDI...likely 2008 my (2007 release).
