It looks like the gauge is disconnected... Anyone ever see this on their cars?

Default My A4 was like that, my S4 is nearly as stable...

I've gotten the water temp gauge up a smidge over middle in hot weather, and at the track.

I wouldn't worry about your gauge being disconnected.<p>Sharon

Default Mine starts far left when cold. Takes approx 1.5 miles to reach middle then stays there...

Seems like a pretty good sign to me (assuming gauge is accurate) indicating good stable cooling system.
Of course, if you're saying it really _never_ (even when cold) reads anything other than center then I think that you have a gauge problem.

Geoff.

Put a chip in it and take it to the track. I was surprised it finally moved a tick toward hot

Default If you turn the car off, does it move down? If so, don't think you've got a problem...

I've had a faulty coolant sensor and the needle moved all over the place. It's normal for the needle to just about always read in the middle.

Always EXACTLY in the middle. Seems like it is electrically disconnected.
