Not to be an @ss or anything but...
Look at the two words together... First you have "Boost" and second you have "gauge". What do you use gauges for? To measure, right? And what kind of gauge is it? A BOOST GAUGE -- TO MEASURE BOOST!!!

Assuming your car has an aftermarket guage installed (correctly!)...
The guage will show the boost (and perhaps vacuum) pressure in the intake manifold. Postive pressure (boost) will only occur when the engine is under strong load, as during acceleration.
The main uses would be to verify all is working OK, the boost matching prior reading indicates nothing is failing. Also used to impress passengers!

It has an SPP one in there. I also asked how to interpret it
All I need is some knowledge of how I can use it to tell if my engine is fine or not, when should I shift etc. . . .
