you "lug" the engine. There are many times during daily driving when I hear it. DO NOT install that thing until you drive a car with it for an extended test drive - like at least 30 minutes. Make sure you drive in stop and go traffic. In stop and go, I used to just get the car moving in 1st and shift to second - then just use second. This is really annoying to do now with the LWFW.
I test drove a car with a LWFW prior to getting my AWE one and thought it was not so bad. I only drove the car a couple of minutes on open roads where I never got the real world experience. It gets worse as the car warms up - at least mine does.
It is a completely subjective thing, you need to decide if you can live with it or not.
This is probably my ONLY mod I'd undo if it were cheap and easy to do so. And, FWIW, I'm at stage III so I've been through a few mods![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'm using an RS4 clutch with it and as soon as I'm ready for a new clutch, the LWFW is going with it.

It DEFINATELY makes noise. A lot noise? I'd say no - but enough that a complete car idiot can hear it.
I'd just be cautious of anyone reassuring you by saying that it makes noise but it's not so bad. Especially if that person is trying to sell you the part.
Bottom line - you have to drive a car with one to even understand what this noise/chatter is all about.

There is definitely a slight chatter below 2000 RPM and anything except feather light throttle. I don't drive the car much in stop and go traffic, but if I did, I would probably be in chatter zone quite abit.
If you downshift to first when crawling, you're fine. The fun is downshifting to first without beating up the synchros (I double clutch and blip the throttle.. No problem then).
I don't notice it in first at all, probably because I never throttle hard under 2000 - bogging is bad.

trans. The factory dual mass flywheel helps absorb engine pulses through the driveline to reduce noise. That is why they are so popular on diesel engines. Audi wouldn't have gone through the trouble and expense of installing a dual mass fw for no reason.
FWIW I love my LWFW, it shifts faster, and rpm matched downsifts are a breeze in my car.
