As far as I know, I think it's legal. A sheriff friend of mine says that laser jammers don't work..

and he's not concerned about them since there aren't too many around here in Vermont. I guess I will need to prove him wrong when we do our field test after my install.

I don't have a transponder yet. :-) I was just suggesting moving up the plate, since you seem to be

suggesting the transponder should be nearer to the plate. (Which is my understanding too.)

That way you can have the transponder peeking through the grille near the relocated plate.
