Default Sumitomo HTR+'s are awesome. Check tireracks comparison test. Beats the SP5000, Pirelli 7000SS

and other top notch tires in many categories.

Go to www.tirerack.com

Another great tire is the Dunlop SPsport A2. I have a set on a different car and they are fantastic (very quiet).

Default Dunlop SP Sport 5000's

Had them on an Alfa, looooved them (~68 bucks in the size I was running, so they're not $$$). Would recommend them to anyone. Also the NEW SP Sport A2's are really nice, a friend just put them on his 1.8TQM.

Default If it's your mom, and she doesn't drive aggressively, go to Pep Boys...

and get their tires. They're cheap, give good cold weather grip, and last long. They won't corner like S-03s, but you already knew that.

Default Dunlop SP5000s are the one model that seem to be the best all round tire.

Sears also sells them and on sale they are a good buy.
