It was sold by someone else but the coverage was through this group.

Total bill with a new MAF came out to around $2200. The way I figure, at 80k I'll need new cam seals again assuming they used the same seal as oem.

will cost what, about $2500-$3000. And that will ensure that you'll pay in full for any breakdown of parts. You spend $1800-$2000 to get bumper-to-bumper coverage for all possible breakdowns that a service contract company will pay. Look at some of the bills people with S4's have had and consider if you would be comfortable paying that bill yourself, potentially multiple times.
I'm planning on keeping my S4 for another 4 years, so the service contract is worth it to me. The fact that Warranty Gold folded doesn't mean a service contract is a bad idea any more than buying any product with a warranty is a bad idea, because all kinds of companies unexpectedly go out of business.
The notion that k04's are a replacement for a bumper-to-bumper service contract seems silly to me.

I have one. Given my time over I would just drop
some money every month into a slush fund instead.
Their policies are written by lawyers I think. I
have tried to claim 4 times and only been succesful
once. I have stupid clauses like 'All gaskets` and
engine seals are covered.*'
* (4pt font: Only if engine has to be removed)
Waste of time and grey hairs.

I was dropping off a friend at her apartment and the whole entrance was smoky after I left.
