Need help from AW pros regarding Tiptronic gear selector...
My wife's tiptronic shift **** recently cracked as a result of a Snapple bottle falling on it during sub-zero temperatures. As a result, I finally got around to replacing it with a stock replacement that I found on eBay. I followed Bentley's suggestion for removing the ****, but ran into a huge problem as I proceeded to disengage it from the shaft assembly - the plastic "pull lever" broke!
Here'sthe damage:

Here's a closeup:

The part in question is item "D" shown in the drawing below:

Questions for those whom have encountered this problem before or who may have access to ETKA:
1) Can I just replace the plastic piece (item D) or will I need to get the entire shift assembly?
2) Any idea of where I can get this part beside the local dealership?
3) If you have ETKA, can you tell me the actual part number?
Thanks in advance for your help. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

S4slave might be of assistance. He has disassembled his TIP shifter a few times in the past 2 weeks
The Bentley is a bit vauge, something about position 3 not really being position 3. You will need to remove the whole thing in order to replace that part and there are a lot of little fragile parts in there.
I bet it is the same part as all the other VW-Audi tip cars. Boneyard might be your best bet.

Get ahold of "Johnny Bravo"...
He has reengineered the entire shifter for a couple of projects. In fact, he created the shift **** mod that SPP now sells as a kit, and he built the mechanical, microswitched circuit that allowed me to ditch the ugly chrome plate.
