Default Need help!!! Severe lag until full boost. What gives? (More)

This is the first I have noticed this. I have a 2001 with @ 5600 miles on it. I have the Forge BPVs, and have had my 5K service and used Mobil 1 0W-30 synth oil.

Here is an example of what happens. I gradually get on it in 2nd and full boost does not come on until like 4K, but I do hear the turbos spooling up at low rpms. It seems like no matter what gear I'm in, it takes 1500 rpm going by at full throttle before I get the surge from the turbos, but I do get full boost when they finally kick in. This was not the case before...

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Throttle Body Intake Boot. You need to replace it. I was under the impression that Audi had it solved in the 2001 models, but I guess not. I've blown 2 of'em. I have a 2000.

Check the Tech section here at Audi world, I'm sure there are instructions on how to replace it. The instructions used to be on Audizone.com, but I guess they merged or something.

HEY MAN! IT SEEMS LIKE WE ARE IN THE SAME BOAT.. I JUST GOT MY '01 S4 SILVER ON SILVER AND IT HAS THE APR CHIP AND A UUC SS. MINE COMES OFF THE LINE OK THEN STUMBLES AT 3K AND THEN ALMOST FEELS LIKE A DROP IN HP UNTIL 4K THEN IT TAKES OFF LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL. HOWEVER, THE CAR THAT I TRADED IT IN ON WAS A '98 M3 W/ COLD AIR INTAKE AND SORRY TO SAY SEAT OF THE PANTS FEEL OFF THE LINE, THE M3 HAS IT. THE S4 HAS THE UPPER END THOUGH. I'M WONDERING IF WE BOTH HAV TORN BOOTS?? (F AND Y) MAY BE LOOSING BOOST PRESSURE AT LOW LOADS AND THE ENGINE IS ONLY GETTING BOOST AT HIGH RPM..
ANY THOUGHTS????

Default I don't think it's his TBB. I've experience the same thing and my TBB was fine.

I've noticed it more when it was hot out.

Default My guess: pinging -> retarded timing

At lot of things cn cause this, including bad gas, high ambient temps, and excessive timing advancement in aftermarket chips.

Default I've noticed this too in my '01 w/ 8500 miles.

Just recently. Thought it might be gas or the recent change in weather.

Default Anyone notice a trend with 2001 S4's & odd acceleration using aftermarket chips ?

What is it with ECU's and 2001 cars, what exactly hasw changed from 2000 to 2001 that causes all these problems ? The only thing I can imagine is the ECU type (H, M, ...) brought about some new "tricks" the chip companies are not aware of. Glad to see I'm not alone with this on/off hesitation during acceleration.
