Default Need opinions on clutch and flywheel.

Well the clutch is going and I figure now that it's time, I'm going to put a Spec 3 clutch/lightweight flywheel in. Along with downpipes while I'm at it. I've STFA and I still can't get a good feel whether the Spec 3 clutch/lightweight flywheel combo is good for daily driving. Also, how about the other setups, ie. RS4 clutch/AWE lightweight flywheel?

BTW, I tried calling SPEC, and they're off this entire coming week.

Default Re: Need opinions on clutch and flywheel.

I've a StageII 00S4 with the SPEC stage-2 clutch and a new stock flywheel...I've had this setup for some 10,000miles and find the clutch action perfect(slight increase in pedal pressure)and have yet to experience any clutch issues...BTW- replace your rear main seal while you have the clutch out....I would drive a car with a light flywheel before changing over to one....I personally didn't like how quickly the motor lost revs while shifting and driving like a "citizen"- I had trouble shifting smoothly... ***** out it was great. Being my daily driver an a member of the AARP crowd I opted for a more conservative approach, hence the stock flywheel....I did not consider the resurfacing approach...this, again, was a personal, subjective selection on my part....I hope you find this helpful...
BTW- If you're in Connecticut I can recommend an excellent shop for the work---drop me a line...

Default LJS - Thanks, that was helpful.

I am concerned about the the lightwheel flywheel driveability and chatter. I do miss the free revving feel of a Honda VTEC engine though - this is one of the reasons I've considered getting a lwfw. I will definitely check into the rear main seal.

Default I recently upgraded to the RS4 clutch & LWFW. I also had concerns about the "drivability" of the

LWFW. I am not disappointed. Shoot me an email if you want to discuss what I learned for the forum and how I went aboout my final decision. Too tired to post a long thread at the moment!
