Upgraded to stainless lines and stripped both nuts on both lines, left and right. Oops. What I found out is that all hardlines are custom cut and bent, meaning you can't just enter a P/N and get a new one. A shop cuts a length of line, bends it to shape, slides on those little threaded nut fittings that like to get stripped, then uses a Metric Bubble Flare Tool to make the little rounded nubs on the end. The bending you can do with your fingers as the lines are pretty soft, but you (or a shop) has to have the Flare Tool to round the ends. You CAN get hardlines from ECS tuning (search for "european line") BUT they are in precut lengths and ECS customer service is questionable. BTW when fully straightened, the line you need is 6 3/8" long. Can you tell I've been through this recently? My hardlines arrive Thursday, I plan on bending them myself and taking them to a shop to have the end cut and flared, hopefully for free.

fittings for different applications. I got the European style fittings. They had an 8" section for about $3. I bent it to fit. Since then I purchased the flaring tool to make a better fit next time. It is working fine. They were made by AGS.

http://www.agscompany.com/products.php?line=3</a

so i recently went to refresh my brakes and suspension on my 98 1.8qtm, my brake hoses were split, and previous owner stripped the hard lines and broke them. I have no idea how long the hard lines are, just to specify i have the hard lines that run between the outer and inner brake flex hose, its the longer ones after the inner lines. please help.

Anyone know if the "hard" rear brake lines (metal tubing) are tough to change? I have a leaking one.
