Default Need some help locating a possible fuel leak, (long)

The wife and i were on our way home from a friends when we stopped at a light we could smell gas really bad. We thought it was a car in front of us so we just turned on the recirculation. Well a little further down the road we stop at another light, same thing. Well we get home and pull in and i park and wait for minute before turning the car off. The smell comes back. You can smell it out side of the car too. I popped the hood and started to check out the injectors to see if they might be leaking. Nothing visible. The smell is definetly there seems to be coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. Can't really pinpoint but its stronger on that side. This is the First time that i have ever smelled gas fumes from the front of the car. We had just filled up before we went to our friends place and didn't smell anything on the way there. The car had just come back from being in rush hour at that point so it was at full operating temp and it was about 40F outside. on the way home its about 30F and the car was not a full operating temp. Could it possibly be just because the car was full and had a full tank of gas? any thoughts or suggestions would be great. thanks

Default ceck under the fuel pump cover ( in the trunk under the mat )

remove the 3-4 screws.. see if there is fuel around the cap.

very simple.. 5 min operation.
It may need a new check valve. or a retighting.

Default Check the evap lines in the engine bay.

I know on the A4 there is a check valve that disintegrates over time. It's located right near the airbox. Not sure where that valve is in the S...but I'd start looking in the vicinity of the airbox for something that looks "broke".
