Default I just bought the last one from Clair Audi today, and it solved all my problems.
The old one had a tear about 2" long under the big 3" clamp, causing wierd starting, bucking under big acceleration, and bucking under throttle lift-off.

For $14 and 20 minutes it sure made me happy. From what I can tell, Audi has made the current TBB much more thicker and robust. The Audi parts guy has confirmed this: very few requests for TBB nowadays.

Thanks to Mike2kS4 and LI-S4 for advice.
