Default new(er) ebay k04s

im in the process of gathering the parts for a stg 3 build, and stumbled apon some new company selling k04s on ebay...ive heard the horror stories, split houseings, turbos held together with epoxy and so on... but these look in the pictures as far as i can tell as some pretty decent made ones, and ive never seen the company before, they ship out of cali, cxmotorsports, but $790 for both has me a little weary, i know you get what you pay for and as such i plan on getting a set from rp turbo but i figured id share this find and see if any one had already been brave enough to try em

do it correctly. spend the money for the right parts. an education costs money: other people have already paid the cost to learn which kits not to buy. why would you do the same thing for the same result?

You dont want to cheap out on turbos. Go with proven performance and reliability because changing the turbos on an S4 is a fairly big job and I would imagine that you don't want to do it more than once.

Turbos are a poster child for "do it right, or do it twice" saying. All the 3rd party (read: chinese) "alternatives" proved to be failures to date.

What you need to remember is that unlike all the other cars out there, our platform is an absolute PITA when it comes to swapping turbos. While a WRX owner can replace their turbo in 1h on their driveway, S4 unfortunately requires engine pull. Do you really want to pull your engine out and deal with returning these turbos (good luck with that btw) only to eventually pay for original OEM stuff?

I know someone that did. He's welcome to give it another shot though, and let everyone on here know how he lucks out. His loss or gain with this seller can be a first-hand account to the audiworld community.

I'd go OEM. Just seems to make sense.
