...looks like a combination of incorrect offset and too-wide of a tire.

The correct offset for that wheel is 32mm and that's the ONLY offset made in that wheel for that car - so someone couldn't screw up and order the wrong offset. Anyway, I'll be taking it back to have the shop look it over.

...I've seen that on a few cars. A lot of people have trouble with 235/40's rubbing with those rims, so it would almost seem certain that an even taller and wider 245/40-18 would rub, lowered or not. If not for the brake caliper clearance issue, the ideal offset with an 8.5" wide wheel on an S4 is about ET38.
