These were scanned out of AMI Auto World Weekly (august issue). I scanned them at low res and you can see through to the image on the back of the page and my scan is pretty unblanaced.
I have carefully examined them for fakery (I do alot of photo retouching for car companies). Both images were ressed up and suffer degredation. The upper left image was badly stair stepped (coarse printing screen line in the magazine) and some enhancement was done to the contrast so the panel lines stand out. The image is reproduced too poorly to really check closely. There seems to be a seam missing on the front bumper but it may just have disappeared when the file was sampled up.
The angles of the bumper match but the panel line of the lower panels on the coupe do not match the black lower panels on the sedan, also missing are any signs of the door guards on the coupe (sure this could be for style). There are no obvious signs of retouching beyond the background blur and the wheel blur (both fake). There has been some smoothing but this may have been due to the degredation of the image, given the simple slab shapes though, it would be easy to create everything between the front and rear bumpers so I'm not saying I think the coupe is genuine.
I'm guessing these are at least indicitave but not completely correct. I don't understand the rational of making the A4 and A6 look virtually identical so that makes these images more suspicious.

Look at the older A6/A8/A4 designs...then look at the new A6/Allroad/S8 concept pictures in euro car, and now these A4 "spy photos." It's pretty evident that audi cars will go through a bubble stage...and I personally think it's stupid. Why make all their cars look the same. If they make the new A4/S4 look like a frggin passat/A6, then I won't buy one again till the next body style after that.

Mercury gradually morphed into the lower line Lincoln -- it increased merc's sales for a while but the Lincoln tanked. They stopped doing it!
