NEW S4 STILL cannot beat E46 M3, audi, what the hell are you doing????
0-60 in 5.6, thats a shame, the E36 M3 (1995-1999) had a 0-60 time of 5.5!
the E46 M3 runs it between 4.6 and 5 flat..
i had thought this would be the M3 eater, but not even close.... this sucks...

it's not like there going to be a light year off, they will be VERY close to 5.6 like they say...why would they give false/incorrect info, my guess is @ BEST 5.2, and thats STILL pushing it... im COMPLTELY disgusted w/ this new car... its a V8, not and still cannot compete w/ the m3.. unreal,
tell me this, are you IMPRESSED AND HAPPY witht he new S4? do you think they made it worth waiting for... i dont think so, not by a longshot..

Hmmmmm I think my car is more now :) New S4/DOGGG
I cant beleive the new S4 has more HP and more technology and more displacement and similiar weight and yet its slower than my STOCK s4. WTF is Audi thinking. I am keeping my car till the RS4 comes out. Im disgusted as well

It's all about the target market...
If the new S4 was as fast or faster than the E46 M3, then there would be little to no market for the RS4. Similarly, the RS4 can only perform near the RS6 or they will minimize the market for the RS6. If there's not enough difference in the models, most will purchase the cheapest. In my opinion, the introduction of the RS4 into the U.S. hurt the performance specs of the new S4. Audi chose to build the new S4 at performance levels comparable to the current S4 (excluding bhp), as they will have the RS4 to go head to head with the M3.

Consider the source on 0-60 times....
I can't speak for BMW's advertised times, but Audi advertised a 0-60 time of 6.5 for the cars we have now. However, two of the car magazines (Motor Trend & one other) got those times down to 5.5. SO ... if you take the new advertised time of 5.6, and the car magazines have a similar experience ... maybe there's hope!
