Hi guys,
We've got a couple of new shift **** designs designed for the S4/RS4/A6:
RK2 Steel is a stainless steel RK2, nickel-plated for a matte finish. New insert in AudiSport red is inlaid, better than original equipment:

New RK2 CF/Steel is the same steel RK2 as above, wrapped in genuine carbon fiber:

Click the pictures above for larger views, details, and pricing. These ***** are currently in stock and available for immediate shipment.

and would putting an 18.3oz ball at the end of your shifter cause premature wear on the shift mechanism... wouldn't it be like driving around w/ your hand resting on it?

They are only available as shown with the inlaid shift pattern insert. You really have to see these, they are hand-crafted in Europe under license with an inlaid shift pattern insert. You can't tell from the photos, but the insert has depth... the raised metal sections and colored parts under a clear top layer give it a unique and exquisite look.
The weight of the shift **** is of absolutely no consequence. Resting your hand on a shifter is the equivalent of about 15+ lbs pulling in a specific direction. Your hand is never just "resting on top", it is pulling or pushing (depending on even or odd number gear). The shift **** weighs nowhere near what your hand/arm weigh, and is simply a weight straight down. The Audi shifter and linkage is entirely independent of the transmission... you could take a sledgehammer and **** your shifter through the floor and the transmission would be completely unaffected.
