Default New Windshields: Safelite vs PPG.

Just as a note to everone in the forum. I just went through 2 Safelite brand windshields because the lug which holds the rear view mirror on is incorrect. It sits too close to the glass, and when you put the mirror back on, it pulls the lug either off the glass, or cracks the windshield.

The PPG glass has the correct mirror lug offset and works perfectly.

If you're going with Safelite (Their customer service and tech were awesome), make sure you check that mirror lug prior to putting the windshield in.

Any input on glass quality, color match, masking, etc. of Safelite vs PPG? Thanks for the heads up!

Default I've always gone with Elite here in CO and request OEM glass everytime..

I go through about a winshield a year living here in Colorado due to all the rocks and gravel that are on the road..

From my experience, I've always gotten the wavy effect on glass that is non-OEM..

my 10cents.

Default the PPG glass i got is greyish tint and has slight distortion in the lower passenger side area.

luckily it's out of my normal field of view. not sure where the glass was made.

Default Just get OEM...it's not that expensive.

I saw a car getting done at CPT with an Audi boxed windshield which was $281 I believe (it was definitely less than $300).
