Default NJ Auto Sale Laws

I have recently bought a car from a dealer in NJ. They claim they cannot legally give me the information on the previous owner. I really need this so I can get the full history on the car. Do they have to or not have to provide me with that information. I know some states they do and some they don't. Either way, if there is nothing to hide I don't see the problem. I would be more than happy to talk to anyone that has bought a car in the past that I have once owned. Thanks in advance for the replies.

I tried that and it doesn't give the previous owners information.

The dealer that serviced it is the same dealer that sold it. Bell Audi in Rahway, NJ.

Default hmm...when i bought my car fom MichealTM in NJ, i found the records had not been kept up to date,(m)

so I requested and update in records from Jack Daniels audi and had no problem....That is how I discovered that he supposedly slid into a curb during winter (i'm guessing) and broke a control arm IIRC..i assume he then got snow tires.....but anyway,,i had no problem finding out about the car from the dealership once i proved that i was current owner.

Service records and carfax that's it. They cannot give out prior owner information.

Default Little do you know that he was wearing a tutu and driving with his feet when he hit that curb.

Default Thats why...

when you hit a curb in a tutu, you always get the car fixed at an independant shop.
