I offer this explanation for those on the forums who know me,
and are curious about what happened to Nogaro.

I would normally relay this information personally, but posting
this allows me to avoid multiple emails and calls about the same
subject - which is something I find no joy discussing.

what happened?

Nogaro came out around 3am on Sunday March 14th to stretch her legs. I enjoyed taking Nogaro out when the world was still asleep. Under the cover of darkness I could roam free with the shadows.
I went light through a few corners to warm up the tires. Once the tires
were adequately warmed up I headed over to a nice stretch of road close to
home, one which i know extremely well.

I was enjoying the freedom of the open road. Coming around one of the last corners I decided not to take the line. I saw silhouettes on the road ahead of me just as I exited the corner leading to the straight. Quickly, I realized the silhouttes were deer in the middle of the road. Deer are fairly common in the area, however they normally just stick to the side of the road. The deer were not moving as I was approaching. I wasn't going in too hot, but I doubt they could have moved fast enough to get out of the way even at my relaxed pace.

I turned into the corner and went slightly off the road to avoid the deer. The moment I touched the grass, the rear kicked out to the right. I countered, but it didn't matter. Nogaro was heading for the woods. After going through the trees and the rocks, the left front upright cracked, and the halfshaft ceased to exist.

After that it was all over.

Nogaro continued through a guardrail (which no longer exists) over a few more rocks, and through a few more trees. Most of the damage was from under the car. The brakelines no longer exist. Neither does the bumper, or either front fenderliner. The front wheels cracked. The drivers
side rear wheel was bent badly. Every bodypanel was affected except the trunklid.

Things may have progressed differently if ESP was on. Although, I doubt it. There wasn't much room to get back on the road between where the deer stood and where the trees started.

what's next?

I don't know. There isn't anything out that I really want - well, within reason.
I'm not considering another Audi just yet. Two modded Audis in 4 years is enough for now.
I may decide to pickup another S4 in the future but that won't be for awhile.
There is something magical about these cars. I don't know why, but I really like em.
As for getting around, I've got that covered. I didn't use the S4 as
a daily driver. I'll probably get a bike for fun - always wanted one - but from now
on I think I'll save my spirited driving for the track. My next project
car might be a 300ZX tt if I can find one that meets my requirements. For now
I'll just relax. It'll be nice to take a break from modifying and maintaining
a modified car.

With that said, there are a lot of people I should thank. The following
are people who have helped immensely with the car, and become close friends.
I always appreciate their help, but I don't think I've expressed it before.
anyway, they are:
Jimmy@Rojocollision, Ron (Skene@PES), Scott T, Kevin P (Laser A6, Nogaro S4, Denim A4, etc),
NickN, JoeJoedaClown (evo, notabenz, etc), DrewB (blulytnin), John A, Oran T (A4turbo),
Wayne, Chris (ferris) and Eric (zaphod)
(I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. If you're reading this, sorry about that)

And the people on the forum who i also owe a thank you:
Zev@Avalonmotorsports.com, Alex@Europarts, Mike (piggie), Nasaracer (pete),
tory (milipitas), DAP, EdP, Eric@SPP, jeff moss, Anthony (blitzkreig), BrianR@speedsport,
and yes, even AWE Tuning
(i know i'm missing a LOT of people on this list)

As for the car - yes, I am selling the mods which were recoverable.
Anything I don't have a stock part for has to stay with the car.
I have posted some items in the classifieds.

Default Never driven into a deer, have you?

I don't know if he was inujured, but a collison with a deer could have been (and probably would have been) much worse than the off road excursion.

Plus when you are going into an accident you try to avoid objects, not aim for them.

Default Waseem - Sorry to hear, man! :-(

It seems as if it was only yesterday when you and I were talking at the SpeedTechnik GTG last year. I didn't even have my Nogaro then but was really excited to get in to the S4 world. Thanks for all the info and the heads up on this car being a fun yet expensive endeavor....its worth it...there really is something special about these cars.

I'm glad that you are okay...it could have been much worse...And I'm sure we all feel your pain with the lose of the car....i'm really sorry, bro! She was a pretty one, I'm shooting for something similar...minus the wheels since they are extinct. Best of luck getting everything taken care of.

Take Care of yourself,

Pete
