Is it normal for my car to burn 2.5 qts of oil every 3500 miles?

I would see half qt, maybe even a qt...but 2.5 seems excessive. Maybe you have some bad rings?

Mine is leaking 1-2 qts every 5k miles. Doesn't show on my driveway, or anyplace I park for that matter. But get underneath the car and there is an obvious leak between the block and the trans. 9everything is wet there, and usually one small drop of oil on the lowest part) It is most likely what others have stated as being a common leak point (either part of the oil pan, or the rear main seal.) It is a very slow leak though, and it also seems to only be when moving, or else there should be more of an indicator in the driveway.

occasionally would smell a little burning oil at a stop sign. Used almaost a quart in 2500 miles. Nothing on the floor in the garage. Brought it to the dealer they said "normal". Not satisfied with the answer. Spoke to the tech - he said RH valve cover gasket. Replace it a 30K checkup and no don't consume a drop and change the oil every 5K. Hope this helps. Look on the backside of the engine behind RH valve cover to see a small run...
