Nuerburgring times, S4 265hp, M3, M5 more......
FYI
This is from another forum but data should be correct.
Well looks like the S4 was 7 sec. behind the old M3, so it should be interesting to see how much more the new E46 will improve on this gap...... =)

COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT SPORTSCARS ON THE RACE TRACK
(Data from german car magazine Sport Auto, which is affliated to german Auto, Motor und Sport)
Cars were driven by the same driver, dry pavement and almost same pavement temperature.
Nuerburgring Nordschleife (length 20,6 km):
Porsche 996 Turbo --- 7 min. 56 sec.
Lotec Porsche 993 Turbo (600 HP, racing suspension) --- 7 min. 57 sec.
Porsche 996 GT3 --- 8 min. 03 sec.
Ferrari 550 --- 8 min. 07 sec.
Lamborghini Diablo SV --- 8 min. 09 sec.

I would take all this with a grain of salt, esp. on a circuit as complicated as the Nordschleife. A significant difference would be plus minus 2% For the Bimmer pusher note that the M3 has over 20% more power.

Euro S4 is 265 Hp (15 more not 25) Old Euro M3 is 321 New Euro I don't know but am guessing 321 as well. How do you explain the TWO different times on your original posting for M3 Was it old and new???
