I have had a drop-per-night oil leak for quite a while. I had it diagnosed at my 16K service. I believe multiple o-rings were ordered. Since they imediatly offered me a rental, I am worried that this is a serious operation.

Has anyone had this problem? I've got 15K on a 2000.

the o-ring/seal is a common thing that needs to be replaced from what i've been told. had it replaced at my 5k, then again at ~19500 miles as well as the upper oil pan since that developed some pinhole leak

Dealer told me that a leaking rear main seal is not uncommon. Also said it is 2-day job (drop engine, remove tranny). They plan to do mine at my next maintainence service.

I've got a 2001 S4 Avant w/7K miles. Drip a night since new(ish). Complained and they fixed it.

It was the o-rings on the turbo oil-return lines. Where they come into the upper oil pan is said to leak on some cars. They also removed the upper-to-lower oil pan gasket and put it back together with only sealer. The tech said this was an AoA service update and that the sealer was similar to Permatex Aviation Form-a-Gasket.

I'm not worrying about it ... but there is this faint noise...
