Default occasional knocking sounds

Hi y'all,

I heard occasional knocking sound that comes from the front part of my 2000 s4. At first I was afraid coz I might have dropped something into the engine moving parts... However, it might also be the engine is having a problem. Has anyone encounter this before?

Another problem is when I'm braking, my car seems to shake. I thought at first it must be a warping rotor. However, I've just changed the front rotors and brake pads. Shaking seems to persist, on speed 80mph and while braking from 50mph to 0. I'm going to try to change my tires and align my wheels... Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Wrong wheels bolts and/or loose wheel bolts.

Default Is that for when the car shakes at 80mph, or during braking? I used the original wheel bolts,

tightened with hands, no compressor. Im pretty sure it's tight...

Both. Do you have aftermarket wheels?

Default Nope, the avus 17" with Michelin Pilot Sports 225/45/17. 1 wheel is still in good condition but the

rest are worn on the outside because of under inflation (i think). But I always make sure every week to put 36/34 psi on my tires...

Default Well, scratch that theory.

Take a good look at the front suspension. You're looking for a loose bolt somewhere. Odds are that will account for both of your problems.

Default Might be because of wheel alignment... i'm going to replace my tires and do wheel alignment. Or...

should I just buy 18" wheels

Knocking and shaking is not due to a bad alignment.
