Anyone getting strange odors/smells from the air vents? Sometimes I get a smell that seems sorta like a like coolant smell other times I get what smells like a burning odor or an air over electric coils smell, Other times it's fine ---no coolant loss or apparent leaks and no apparent electrical smell!!!

Left over from the protective coating Audi used back then on the WHOLE exerior of the car for shipping protection. The Dealer used some sort of solvent spray to remove it, but some ran into my ventilation system, and still produces a "hot wax" order when the heat is first turned on.

I have a similar experience with my VW Jetta. Whenever I use my A/C for the first time in a long time, and later having the vehicle sit for a while, the next time I get in the vehicle, a coolant-like (almost amonia-ish) smell is present.

I asked the technician at the dealership and apparently, on CFC-free A/Cs, this smell seems to occur. He said that it was normal and as the car ages the smell will become less noticeable.

I'm assuming you are talking about a brand-new vehicle. My Jetta did this as a brand-new car. I can't imagine any fumes of this type to be normal on a vehicle that has been "odor-free" since you purchased it.

I smelled something like what you described today after accellerating very hard to slip into traffic. Actually, the smell really surprised me.
