OE Suspension? Ehhh?

If you want your true OE ride back, you should start by looking at replacing your shocks with OE shocks(I heard the ride on the Eibach Pro Street Plus kit is good, but I'll find out later this summer depending on how much I win on my next Vegas trip
). However, shocks alone won't solve the issue. You will have to rebuild your suspension by replacing the control arms. The S4/A4's AWD design is pretty heavy and completely overwhelms the stock control arm bushings.
The way to replace the busings on a B5 is to replace the control arms. Having the dealer do it is pricey as I understand, but it's not difficult to do on your own (should be a few write-ups on ths). You can buy a kit at ECS, Blauparts, or <insert a big vendor here>; it's cheaper than buying the individual parts at the dealer. Keep away from discount kits,or else it'll be a problem again sooner than later. It's good to do the replacement at the same time your shocks need to be replaced, as it will save a lot of duplicate work. You will also need to price in an alignment when you are done.
Just a couple more things to consider... If you are going to replace your control arms, it would be a good time to consider replacing your wheel bearings... after all, you will have already dissassembled the suspsension. Also, if your tires are used up or are more than 2 years old then you should considering replacing those too; it definitely affects your ride in a huge way.
Good luck.
