Oil
Curious what the most recently manuals recommend in terms of type of oil. My 2000 (10/99) build originally said 5w30. I know they changed to 0w/30. I just read the product info for Mobil 1 0w40 now listed on their website for purchase in the U.S. Mobil says the 0w40 is approved for use in Audi, BMW, Saab, Mercedes, etc.
Thanks

0W-30 or 0W-40.
0W-30 is the first recommendation in the manual. 0W-40 might be necessary in warmer climates.
You definitely DO NOT want to use thick oil in colder climates. You want THINNER oil in COLDER climates. Understand that 0W-30 and 0W-40 are the same weight ('0' viscosity) at the time of a cold start.
I use Mobil 1 0W-40. Click on the 'Why use 0W-40 Mobil 1 synthetic?' link in my signature for more information.
