Oil changes every 8K miles?

tested, and warranties the motor. They've determined what an appropriate interval for oil changes is. The last time I read a consumer's report test of motor oils (several years ago) they concluded that with today's oils you didn't need to change your oil any more frequently than something like 7000 miles. Of course maybe all those automotive engineer's at Audi don't know what's best for the motor they've built.<p>2001 S4

There are many oil company ads on TV trying to scare folks into changing every 3k miles when it really isn't necessary.
Hiring Tom Beringer to lay some serious oil change scare is good marketing though. Hell, they shoulda dressed him in his Platoon outfit while they were at it.
