Default I thought I had read that most "other" cars have oil temps around 170-180F?

Even though that's low for our cars, I'm not sure I buy the "burning off" theory. At that temp, water and fuel should burn off. Are you sure you're hitting 175 at least?

Default How fast do you drive on the track?

You really think that the effects of removing the pan affects track driving?
The main purpose of the pan when Audi designed it is for noise reduction. It does help high speed stability and improves fuel economy for everyday driving.

Default sounds like it makes sense. i take it you were seeing extreme temps on the track thus switched to

a better oil cooler? if not, i think this is the definition of overkill screwing you over...but yes if the termostate bypass opened at higher temp it would not be so bad....

and each bar how much temp is it.

and there's no C and H on the oil temp guage - there are numbers.

FWIW, 99% of enthusiasts/tuners/resellers do not know how the Mocal style thermostat works.
