Oil Pressure Light Woes.

Oil Pressure Light Woes.
Twice this morning on my way to work my car shut off on me and the oil light picture came up on the screen. It was about 40 degrees out, and the coolant had come up to operating temperature.
I checked the oil and it looks fine, maybe alittle too much oil.
Then it would take a miniute or two to start. It would just crank with nothing happening.
Questions
1. Does the oil indicator come on if theres to much oil in the system ?
2. Is my oil pump the culprit ?
3. Is it the 10w-30 my mechanic put in ?
