Default Jon was reading one of those oil forums and

pointed out that 0W40 might not be the best oil in an older engine. Something about all the additives in the oil.

I ran 0W30 in the sedan and you're right, I shouldn't be afraid of that oil. The sedan ran flawlessly.

Default I think if the car is being pushed and generating a lot of heat, the 40 weight would offer a little

more protection.

Actually, some of the 30 weights ahve higher shear points than the 40 weights. Depends on the oil.

Default Try Redline 5w-40.......have your current oil analyzed....then run the Redline....

have your second batch of redline tested, and hell, run it for 6-7K miles.

When you get the test results of Redline 5w-40 compared to whatever synth is in there now, you'll be a believer. Just make sure you test the second change so the Redline has a chance to clean up after whatever else was in there. :-)

Default DR usually uses heavier weight oils in their cars...

When I had my A4 serviced there, I recall 15W40 dino on the service receipts.
