S4 / RS4 (B5 Platform) Discussion Discussion forum for the B5 Audi S4 & RS4 produced from 1998-2002

Ok, 235/40/17 or 235/45/17 Opinions wanted. I think 235 looks better on stock wheels.

Default I have 235/45/17 with 8" width rims and they look nice

but they do rub a tiny bit on the plastic above the wheel, no biggie.

I have Ectas Supra, I believe if you go with Bridgestone or Michelin they won't rub.

Knowing this, next time I get tires it will be 235/40/17 as I love the Ectas.

Btw. some people believe 235 is too wide for a 7.5" wheel and you really want 8" or more.

Default I have 225/45 YR 17s on 17x8" wheels. Look very aggressive (ask Mike M, he's seen it in person)

I think the extra half inch, combined with the narrower tire, make the sidewall more straight, rather than bulged, and it looks really nice.
